Just to continue my saga on poor audio electronics in tape recorders.
People would laugh their nuts off if this was a pre amplifier or power amplifier.
It would be considered total unacceptable for even simple SE Triode amps do much better.
First pic is stock Studer C37 record amp as the actual record current into record head it leaves a magnetic flux on tape precisely as shown.
The second is my modified version.

The so called tape enthusiasts don't understand how poor standard machines are in the audio department.
Therefore lots of so called copy master tapes have these inherent problems and at best I call it BS.
Why do companies consult with me. Why have I got Paul Mc Cartney's machine here to rebuild my way?
Why has all 72 channels of A827 that Dave Gilmour studio has been rebuilt my way?
If these people cannot hear the difference then I go home.
I put my money where my mouth is. I don't tolerate mediocrity.
Gilmour has over 3 million £ worth of kit. He certainly knows his stuff and pays the bills.
Same goes with other professionals I deal with.
