    Vielen Dank :merci:

    LG

  • Hello,

The principle used in the VTA lifter is the same as the Goldmund relief clamp

When i bought my Groovemaster i already decided that i wanted to use the same kind of base that i did machine for my Fidelity Research 64S which now is used by a member here ( Rolandpower if i am right)

My idea was not at all about making VTA adjustment easier.

It was about adding weight to the arm, reduction of vibrations , achieving a MUCH better grip on the arm and being able to make a good connection between the arm and the '' basis platte''

My armbase allows me to change height by using pieces of metal of a precise thickness between arm and armbase NOT by simple turning of a big '' wheel '' BUT i am not planning to change VTA regularly.

I asked a company to make a piece of POM material with a hole with very close tolerance. By turning two M4 or M5 bolts on the side just 90 degrees clockwise or counter clockwise the arm can be moved or is 100% fixed. I dont know if you turn the Groovemaster VTA lifter the arm will only move up and down or also left and right?

As you can read in post September 2018 i had this idea for the groovemaster a long time. i had the 64FX and two 64S and all were used with a base i had especially made. The FX with an aluminium one and the 64S with a stainless steel one. I think the vibrations present in the arm should be removed from the arm into the base where you want them to be killed. That is why i used a combination of Pom and bleikugeln.

I remember Marco telling me that the original Groovemaster base was very good but i told him mine will be better .Now he is selling one himself. I think especially with a cartridge like the SPU gold the differences will be big. I have been using SPU for 30 years or more and i know it likes a rigid arm.

    Greetings, Eduard

Eduard, you nailed it:

„It was about adding weight to the arm, reduction of vibrations , achieving a MUCH better grip on the arm and being able to make a good connection between the arm and the '' basis platte''

  • Hello,

Stephan in post number 25 did explain some of my ideas but i will try to give some more information.

Fidelity Research already made their famous B60 base in the eighties when i bought my first 64S. They also sold a ring to add extra weight that can be added to the tube going down into the turntable '' basis platte ''

The thing i asked a co worker to machine for me can be used for both so mounting and extra weight..

My idea supported by some engineers is that if you want to take vibrations away from the arm you need the kind of contact similar to the Groovemaster VTA lift/ my Goldmund relief clamp..

The typical one screw mounting if you look it at from an engineering point of view will give you a rather weak grip on the tube. I asked the company who machine the POM arr base for me to make a very close tolerance ( 0,05 mm) hole. By using the two M5 bolts i change its seize a little bit so the tube can slide up and down or the tube will face a tight '' grip '' all around the diameter AND also around its length..

My idea is if there are some vibrations in the tube and you want those to be taken away and/or dampened the material used for the arm base should be softer than the tube itself. First i had one made of wood but that one could be made with close enough tolerances. One day i could enter the tube and if the weather changes it would not fit.

So i went for POM and had an extra hole 30 mm diameter made to be filled with bleikugeln. Total weight nearly one kilo.

My basis platte is also POM so ii can mount the arm base directly onto the POM or i can add something in between.

    Greetings, Eduard

  • Hello,

I think it is a very good idea to put the VTA as close as possible to the '' lagerung '' of the Groovemaster.

Die dreher von Herr Feickert are they made from pom or metal.

Die "tierisch fette" Schraube is mounted against '' die dreher von Herr Feickert '' i presume?

Because i knew i wanted to change my 64S into a 66S ( untill i saw Groovemaster) i bought the Scheu basis platte with a kind of universal hole. As you can see in the picture the POM arm base can be mounted with 6 M5 boltzen because i wanted to have a large contact area between arm base and basis platte!! I can always but something in between to dampen vibrations if needed.

With the dreher it will be easier to make adjustment but usually when mechanical things are made to be adjusted in many ways it will also create some '' weakness '' That is the reason i never liked the SME3012 and went for the 64FX, 64S.

The hole in the Feickert is very universal and so BIG..

My idea would be to make a big circle about the same seize as the one from Herr Feickert but only one hole for the arm tube. An bodenseitte from the circle a shape that will inside the hole of the Feickert basis platte. Then on the inside of the Feickert a circle with a center hole for the arm tube and then you can mount that with the tierisch fette schraube.

Of course doesnt have to be a circle can be a rectangle too. I think if you live close to a '' fachhochschule '' with a CNC frasmachine it can be made easily.

Of course the mounting with 2 bolzen is strong enough!! It can stay there for ages. But just imagine the hole in the Feickert will be round 30 mm and the dreher von Herr Feickert can be attached with 4 bolzen that would feel more solid if you want to have the best connection possible.

  • Hello Balasz,

    Happy birthday.

What a pity you must give yourself a birthday present.

What i usually do because birthday is just once a year i will give myself a kind of '' reward '' after i '' finished '' something like taking of the old wall paper and covering the walls in my livingroom with cork tiles.

OR only buying a few thousands euro phono pre amp ( AudioMagic Peter van willenswaard) after selling some Tango LCR units.

Now my '' tasks '' are just finishing some diy projects before spending money on a Roon Nucleus and some associated gear to replace my Aurender.

    Greetings, eduard

  • Hallo,

- 25,5, also 8,8mm, aber:

    FFBDB049-33C2-4482-8A07-5DA080C9EF26.jpg
