Ich unterhalte mich gelegentlich mit John Calladine in Kanada, der diese Website errichtet hat:
Der fragt mich heute:
Zitat... One question that I have for you is Our people in Germany or Europe aware that they can use an outside tape head preamplifier to get superior sound out of pretty much any regular production tape recorder?
I was corresponding with a fellow in Dortmund who is pretty deep into these tape recorders and he had no idea that these devices even exist. He presented it to his apparently expert technician who had No idea either why one would take the signal off the tape head and run superior electronics.
So I would be interested to know if these are relatively unknown in Europe.

There are currently three of these on the market and quite expensive.
At North American audio shows, The most popular configuration is to use a deck like a Technics 1500, a Studer Or just generally one that has a good transport.
The sound is quite a bit better than the electronics that were offered back in the 1980's, assuming we are listening to a high-end system of course.
Here's a link to one company and can send more if you want to see them...

https://www.merrillaudio.net/master-tape-head-preamplifier/I met a Fellow through the website who has extensive electronics experience and he sent me his version which is excellent and quite a bit Less expensive.
We have decided to do a relatively small production run of 5 of his Tape head preamplifier and will be offering it, likely at
$ 7.5 K.
It will be interesting to see how it is received in the North American market.
Maybe one day, these devices will become more popular in Europe.
