I know you are mostly interested in grammophones but maybe my little cute surface mounted Gaicnlone could be interesting to build (and to be connected via a preamp to your grammophone)? It's a 68 W monoblock with peak power of 120 Watts. The pcb is approx. 100 x 100 mm and contains everything except for a transformer.

Some people dismiss LM3886 or LM3875 based amps but they are quite good if you consider what they cost. They will never be high-end but rather high-end if the design around is made good enough.
